In-Office or At-Home Which Is the Best Option for You?

We offer two teeth whitening options at our Long Island practice; Zoom! teeth whitening in our office or Opalescence™ at-home whitening trays. Though both bleaching options are effective at removing years of surface stains, the best option for you will depend on your goals and timeline. Our dentist can review your options during a complimentary consultation.

Opalescence

This whitening option allows patients to brighten their smiles in the comfort of their homes. The whitening system comes in a variety of bleaching concentrations and flavors to suit every need and preference. Dr. Buono will take an impression of your teeth to create custom whitening trays. You can then load your whitening trays with 1/3 to 1/2 of the pre-loaded syringe and secure the tray in your mouth like a retainer. It is possible to see results after one use, but full results can be seen in about one week.

Zoom! Teeth Whitening

The Zoom! teeth whitening system is a prescription-grade bleaching product that can brighten your teeth by up to eight shades in as little as one hour. This in-office treatment is best for patients who wish to whiten their smiles quickly. Dr. Buono will first prepare your teeth for whitening by protecting the gums and soft tissues. Next, he will apply a layer of whitening gel to your teeth. Finally, he will shine a blue LED lamp to activate the gel. These steps will be repeated until your teeth have reached the desired shade.
